MONTROSE BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL
WOMEN’S CLUB
MARCH, 2008 NEWSLETTER

**********************************************************************************************
Dear members and friends,

Our March meeting is set for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, at the Montrose House, hosted by the Membership Committee of April Taylor, Mary Evans and Vivian Bolles. The meal this month features Quiche.

The third time has to be the charm because we really want to hear our speakers for the evening, Cheryl Wellman and Janet Krause, two local women involved in financial services at Gannon Associates, which recently moved the local office to the Lake Montrose Plaza Mall. They’ll tell us how they became part of the investment/insurance business and answer any financial questions you may have.

Our RED PURSE RAFFLE was extended to the March meeting, due to the February weather fouling up our meeting. We’ve sold more tickets, and members who received tickets in the mail to sell, please bring them and the money to the March meeting.

We held a meeting on February 20, with 7 members attending. Website Chair Connie Stevens gave an update on the Montrose BPW website, which she has done an EXCELLENT job on. We’ll review it again at the March meeting.

It was decided to forego a Pierogie sale, as we were short on experience and time.

A bus trip to Mt. Airy Casino was set for March 1, then AGAIN, the weather interfered. We were also far from filling the bus. Sheraton agreed to postpone to March 15. PLEASE tell those you think may be interested that it is set for March 15, pickups at 8:45 a.m., Lawton; 9 a.m., Montrose Price Chopper and 9:15 a.m., Green Gables, New Milford. Cost is $28 with $5 free play and $2 off the buffet with Player’s Card (bring photo ID to acquire a card upon arrival). There’ll be raffles and fun on the trip. Call Ann Silletto at 278-7181 or Joyce at 278-2482. It’s a fun place to go!

The call to District 8 Spring Conference is out for April 5, at the Regal Room, in Olyphant. Cost is $21 which includes danish, coffee, lunch, and registration fee.
I’d really like to see a good group go to this. We’ll be installing a new District Director - Antionette Mackar and saying farewell to Lori Hubal, who’s done a great job the last two years. We’ll also be honoring Gail Golden during the Memorial Service and the District Woman of the Year will be announced.
Theme for this year is ‘Afternoon Tea’ and members are encouraged to wear a theme hat! I think this ties into BPW/PA President elect Barbara Schmouder’s penchant for hats. She is always attired in a beautiful creation at each BPW event she attends. Can some of our long time members - note, I didn’t say old! - advise us on hat selection or provide us with some they’ve put away for memory’s sake?
Connie has the complete call and reservation form posted on the website to download, and I’ll have forms at the meeting. Reservations are due by March 25.

We’ll be summing up 2007/20008 contest entry requirements for District and State.

Upcoming - Montrose BPW Spa excursion to the Cosmetology Clinic at SCCTC in Elk Lake, 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 26. Pamper yourself with a manicure, pedicure and facial mask for just $8. Arrive by 3 p.m. to receive all three services or choose just one or two if you will be arriving by 4 p.m. Individual prices are: Pedicure, $3; Facial and Mask, $4; Manicure, $2. Liz Janoski is organizing this for us. Let us know by March 12 if you plan to go, so we can make reservations.

Ann Fitzgerald will be calling for dinner reservations for March 12. The meal is $12 per person. If you must cancel your reservation, call me, Susan, at my work number, 278-6397, ext. 226, by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12.

I hope you’ll bring some new faces along as guests to our March meeting. We need to show others what a great organization we have here in Montrose.

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING A PART OF MONTROSE BPW!

Susan
