MAY, 2008 NEWSLETTER

Our May meeting is set for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the Montrose House, hosted by the Education and Service Committee of Fran Allen, Jeanne Falk and Ann Fitzgerald.
This month we'll welcome our scholarship winners. The selection committee had its work cut out for it, selecting from over 25 applicants. We think we made the best choices and you'll get to meet them at our meeting.
Our speaker for the evening is Gladys Bennett, filling us in on the progress of the fund drive to build a new Susquehanna County Library main branch facility.

The Nominations Committee and the Executive Committee met on May 6, and we'll have a slate of officers to present, as well as an update on club concerns.
We need to finalize plans for the club's bake sale during Community Sales Day, May 24, in Montrose. Be ready to list what you can donate and to sign up to work.

Congratulations to two of our District 8 sister clubs. Carbondale celebrates its 70th anniversary on May 21, and Scranton celebrates its 85th on May 28

There's still time to register for the BPW/PA State Convention, June 19-21 at Fernwood Resort in the Poconos. It's so close distance wise! You can register for a single day attendance, if you wish. Friday, is a busy morning, with the Calendar Table party that evening. Things get pretty happy then, as the year's successes are celebrated and the outgoing president is 'roasted ' and serenaded! Saturday finishes up with the evening banquet where a new president's installation, farewell from the outgoing president and the following reception are always impressive.

Ann Fitzgerald will be calling for dinner reservations for May 14. The meal is $12 per person. If you must cancel your reservation, call me, Susan, at my work number, 278-6397, ext. 226, by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.

Bring a friend along to our May meeting - it's fun to share in the future of our young scholarship winners. There may be a friend, neighbor or co-worker just waiting to be asked!
